2pm: Allow some time for 'mothering'.
A page reportedly torn from a very old parenting book has gone viral on Facebook after being shared on the Mum's Grapevine Facebook page.
The page details a routine for caring for babies and apparently dates back to the 1950s.
And it certainly has some very interesting suggestions...
One of the most intriguing suggestions may be the 'sunbathing' one... these days parents go to extreme lengths to ensure their little ones are covered up from the sun.
But back then it was seemingly encouraged for bubs to get a bit of colour.
Other unusual suggestions that have raised eyebrows was the recommendation to regularly 'hold out' the baby, what that means exactly is up for debate really. We googled it and couldn't find an exact meaning.
One thing that really stands out is the constant instructions to put the baby down, put it outside, close it in its room turn out the lights and leave it to sleep. There's no instructions to cuddle, play, generally have bonding time, unless that's what the "mothering" suggestion includes at 2pm.
There's also scheduled time for kicking on the bed without clothes on and a scheduled time for a drink of delicious orange juice. Strange!
