Deserved criticism or taking it too far?
Love Island's Faye Winter has been accused of cultural appropriation after posting her Halloween costume on Instagram.
In the photos, she appears alongside her boyfriend, Teddy Soares as the Na'vi species from Avatar .
And while, believe it not, with bright blue skin, the Na'vi people from the films are entirely fictional, Faye's come under some intense criticism because of the specific character she's been alleged to be portraying.
Tyla reports: "People have assumed that Faye is meant to resemble Zoe Saldana's character Neytiri in the film, who wears braids with beads in, similar to Faye although Faye does not have the exact same accessories as the main character such as a feathered breast covering."
Some people have take particular issue with the braids Faye is wearing as part of the costume, a hairstyle traditionally associated with the Black community.
However there's been quite a bit of debate online about whether a costume of a fictional character qualifies as cultural appropriation.
Faye and Teddy smashed this???

The make-up artist involved has also said she's happy to address people's concerns:
It’s a costume, I’m the make up artist who did this and I also chose the wig. If you have a problem please PM me…
