"Of course, anal swabs aren't as convenient as throat swabs"

A new method of testing for Covid-19 has been introduced in China and it's a real pain the ass.

China is now using 'anal swabs' to achieve better accuracy of the virus and it is being used on 'high-risk' patients.

It's reported that the test involves inserting a cotton-tipped swab about 1-2 inches into the rectum, and sealed in a plastic container.

The Irish Post reports, that over 1 million residents in Bejing have been tested with anal swabs already as part of the screening process.

Infectious disease specialist, Li Tongzeng told CCTV:

"Of course, anal swabs aren't as convenient as throat swabs, so they're only being used on individuals in key quarantine areas,"

The Chinese new year is just around the corner and health officials are hoping to speed up testing using this method.

It is reported that the celebrations last year were one of the main reasons that virus spread in China.
