The man has told Reddit's AITA that he thought the course was a good idea as his girlfriend "lacks the manners" his family would expect.
One man has come under fire on Reddit after revealing he signed his girlfriend up for an online social etiquette course before she was due to meet his parents.
As reported by The Mirror, he shared his 'dilemma' on the popular Am I The Asshole thread, wondering if he was a "complete asshole" for doing so.
For context, the poster explains that he and his girlfriend have been together for a little under three months and agree it's time for her to meet his family.
He says he's blessed to have had a "fortunate upbringing" but his girlfriend has faced "some challenges", particularly financial ones, from a young age.
He describes his girlfriend as "beautiful" and "interesting" but also says she's the "first less-fortunate woman" he's dated, and he thinks she "lacks the manners" his family would expect.
The boyfriend insists he thought signing her up for an online social etiquette course was a good idea, but it seems his girlfriend does not agree!
He says she's absolutely furious and has accused him of being "racially insensitive" by feeling the need to teach her how to behave.
Reddit users in the AITA thread have been quick to slate the poster for his actions, describing them as "incredibly insulting" and saying he should probably take those classes himself.
One response compared the situation to the episode of Friends where Mike brings Phoebe to meet his wealthy parents.
So what do you think? Would you be raging if your other half did this?!
