"What’s next? A course on how to switch on a light?"
A council in the UK is facing backlash after charging adults £15 (about €18) to attend a course on how to ‘wear accessories’.
The three-hour course is run by the adult learning department at Northamptonshire County Council and aims to teach people how to "understand the impact of accessories" and improve "body image".
You'll also learn to "identify what accessories would work best for you" and how to come up with alternative approaches.
Students will be taught through practical demonstrations, PowerPoint demonstrations and group discussions on how to wear shoes, belts, bags, jewellery and more while you're encouraged to bring in your own accessories that you're not sure how to wear:
The course starts in February 2020 but locals aren't happy and have called it a total waste of money.
Mum-of-two Janet Wilson, 30, told Metro.co.uk:
"Why on earth is this course, which doesn’t even sound like a fashion course, being run alongside other valuable courses.
"If you need lessons on how to put on shoes and wear belts I think you’re probably beyond help."
Meanwhile 22 year-old student Annabelle Wright also told the website:
"How patronising to be taught how to carry a handbag or even wear a belt.
What’s next? A course on how to switch on a light?"
The council has defended the course saying it's intended to be fun and help people build confidence.
