Could make typing quicker?

Are you ever carrying out a task, like typing or carrying the shopping, and you just think 'jeez I could do with an extra finger...'

No? Well, maybe it's just a certain research team that think we could all benefit from an extra finger.

One team in Japan have been developing a robotic sixth finger, to test out how humans respond to an extra body part.

To do this, they put sensors on the arm to measure electric signals from muscles.

Those signals are then transferred to a motor that controls the robotic finger and they then study how the brain changes.

Researchers observe if the brain will accept the extra appendage.

They reckon it could help with tasks like typing and carrying things.

Fancy seeing how it all works?
