''20 yr old mystery solved in 24hrs''.

You know that feeling of panic you have when you realise you've left your wallet behind? Then comes that overwhelming feeling of relief when it's handed back to you.

Well one man was lucky enough to have his lost wallet returned to his possession this week - the only thing is...it did take 20 years.

Gardaí in Tallaght, Co. Dublin say they were handed a rather worse for wear looking wallet on Tuesday, with two cards inside.

Both the visa card, and student card dated all the way from June 2001 - turns out it had been buried all that time.

The information on the cards meant gardaí were able to check their PULSE system for any information about it.

Officers were then able to contact the owner, who had indeed lost the cards and wallet two decades ago.

Writing on Facebook, An Garda Síochána said: ''20 yr old mystery solved in 24hrs! Lost wallet returned after 20 years.

''This wallet was handed into Tallaght Gardaí YESTERDAY, it appeared to have been buried a long time.

''When opened it up there was some info in it, PULSE was checked, owner was found who had lost it 20 yrs (sic) ago''.
