More than 170 thousand people have died of Covid in the past two months.

The WHO says the actual number of deaths could be much higher as figures only related to reported deaths.

WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus says the take up of vaccinations and boosters has dropped.

‘Too few people, especially old people and health workers are adequately vaccinated, too few people are behind on their boosters and too many people don’t receive the right care. Fragile health systems are struggling to cope with the burden of covid 19 on top of caring for people with other illnesses including flu and RSV.’
