A record crowd for Women's sport in 2017 piled into Croke Park in Dublin yesterday to witness the women's GAA All-Ireland Football Final between Dublin and Mayo.
The attendance of 46,286 smashed the next best crowd of the year when 35,271 who travelled to Wembley for last May's Women's FA Cup final.
Unfortunately, for Mayo, much like the weekend prior the match didn't go as planned with the Dubs once again getting chocolates, defeating Mayo 4-11 to 0-11.
But, on the bright side the crowd is a reflection of the growth of women's sport in Ireland, which is only set to get bigger and bigger in the years to come.
Great work from the GAA, both clubs and everyone who travelled to the match. We can't wait for next season already!
Incredible attendance at Croke Park for @Ladiesfootball finals.
Just to put it in some perspective . . .
