Fellas, it's that time of year again, time to get the finger out and make a bit of an effort.

We'll be spending an average of €50 in florists this Valentine's day.

AIB's been looking at the spending habits of Irish romantics and found that men spend 55% more than women on the day, however most of the money is spent after working hours, indicating it's a bit of a rush-job for many.

Restaurants and pubs see the biggest spend among the traditional Valentines hotspots, with card transactions in them up 83 and 58 percent respectively.

While it seems that many like to make a night of it, with spending in hotels up by over one third.
