Two ATMs stolen using diggers overnight

Gardaí and the PSNI are investigating separate ATM thefts on both sides the border.

It follows incidents in Cavan and Tyrone in the early hours of this morning.

At around 4am, a large digger was used to remove an ATM machine from a bank on Main Street, in Kingscourt, County Cavan.

It was placed on a trailer which was being towed by a light coloured, large SUV. That left in the direction of Carrickmacross.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

Meanwhile, police in the North are investigating an incident in which a digger was used to remove the ‘built-in’ cash machine from a petrol station on the Ballygawley Road in Dungannon. The incident occurred at around 4.15am, causing substantial damage to the building.

Detectives believe the digger was stolen from a business a short distance away.

The digger was set alight at the scene immediately after the theft.

Both authorities are appealing for anyone with information on the incidents to come forward.
