Trump finally gets his wall... (In County Clare)

Donald Trump has gotten his wish.

There's a big wall going up. People aren't too over the moon about it. And it's a directive of none other than the President of the United States.

You guessed it! We're talking about the proposed coastal wall at a golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare of course.

The Trump International Golf Links corporation own the resort, and have wanted to erect a wall for some time, to protect the course from coastal erosion.

Two sea barriers of about 630 yards and 260 yards in length have been given the green light to be built.

However, many people are opposed to the construction. Environmental group Save The Waves collected 100,000 signatures opposed to the initial development plan. They claim the construction may pose a threat to local wildlife habitats.

In a statement Clare County Council said: "Clare County Council has today issued a decision to grant permission for the development of coastal erosion management works at, and adjacent to, Carrowmore Dunes, White Strand, Doughmore Bay and Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, Doonbeg, Co. Clare."

Has there ever been someone who loves walls this much?

Well, asides from whoever wanted the Great Wall of China built... they probably win.
