The world's most famous doll turns 60 today!
Barbie - who's full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts - was launched on 9th March 1959 by American toy company, Mattel, priced at $3.
The doll is so popular 58 million are sold every year - that's more than 100 sold every minute.
Barbie creator, Ruth Handler, named the doll after her own daughter; and Barbie's boyfriend, Ken - also named after Handler's son - was released in 1961.
However, Barbie has faced her share of controversy over the years.
The Irish Mirror reports the dolls dimensions are so unrealistic, scientists have claimed a real-life version of the world-renowned doll would be 7 feet tall, with a 60 inch bust, 12 inch waist, and a neck that would snap.
But Handler, who died in 2002, claimed "Barbie represented the fact that a woman has choices".
To celebrate her milestone birthday, Barbie's makers are launching new models, honouring careers in which women are still under-represented.
Mattel has released six new versions of the doll, including an astronaut, a pilot, a politician and a firefighter.
