All 157 people on board an Ethiopian Airlines plane have been killed, after it crashed this morning.
149 passengers and 8 crew were on board the Boeing 737 aircraft, which was en route from Addis Ababa to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.
It broke contact with air traffic control just six minutes after taking off - crashing near the town of Bishoftu, south-east of Addis Ababa.
It's been confirmed one Irish person was on board. The Department of Foreign Affairs is available to provide consular assistance.
It's not known yet what caused the incident.
Aviation safety expert, Captain Mike Vivian, says, the investigation will look at a number of things; but, as "the weather appears to have been OK" and it's "a good airline", he claims "the question really revolves around the airplane", as the cause of the crash.
