Jay-Z told the New York times yesterday that he’s still emotionally scarred
from his impoverished upbringing in Brooklyn.
He discussed psychotherapy, and made his admission of “infidelity.”
“You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode,
what happens? You shut down all emotions.
So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect,” he told executive editor Dean Baquet. “In my case, like it’s, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity.”
Himself and Beyonce seemed to address their problems through song
In Beyoncé’s track “Sorry” last year, she referenced “Becky with the good hair,”
which has often been used to describe the other woman.
Then this past summer, Jay-Z in his track “4:44” alluded to cheating.
“I apologize often womanize. Took for my child to be born. See through a woman’s eyes.
Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles.
Took me too long for this song, I don’t deserve you,” according to Jay-Z’s lyrics.
