The Ireland South MEP, Deirdre Clune, is calling on young people between 18 and 30 to sign up and volunteer with the European Solidarity Corps scheme.
The scheme enables young people to respond to important societal needs by taking part in voluntary activities across the European Union.
Under the scheme young people can participate in a wide range of solidarity-related activities such as education, health, protecting the environment and integration of migrants and asylum seekers.
Deirdre Clune says it gives young people a great opportunity to volunteer in their own country or abroad:
"The EU is providing funding and developing a portal to link would-be volunteers with NGOs or school establishments or maybe refugee camps, or rebuilding communities who've been devastated by fire or earthquake..." (sic)
