iPhone users suspicions have been realised
Apple has admitted that it introduced a feature which 'slows down' older iPhones last year.
The feature was activated on iPhone 6, 6S and SE's during a software update. And it's just been added to the iPhone 7 this month.
So...we bet you're wondering why?
It's all to do with the battery.
When the phone is older, or the battery isn't in great condition it can struggle to supply enough power to run the device. Which is why your phone might sometimes switch off unexpectedly with 30% or 40% remaining. So basically slowing the phone down will help the battery last longer.
An Apple spokesperson said: “Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices.”
So, if you've noticed it's taking a little longer than usual to upload your selfie to Instagram lately, you now know why!
