Brought to you in partnership with the Government of Ireland.
Enough is enough.
Last month on iRadio in partnership with the government of Ireland’s No Excuses campaign, we talked about creating a society that no longer excuses sexual harassment and sexual violence.
Louise Clarke on The Hub spoke to Loretta McDonagh from the Mayo Rape Crisis Centre about how we go about this change and sexual violence during a time of Covid.
Loretta explained how the change begins with people having the conversation with their peers around consent. If you see any act of sexual violence, it is important to speak up.
Loretta talked about how you can report sexual violence:
"Covid-19 has added a whole other layer of complexity to people who experience sexual violence"
On The Hub, Louise and Loretta also discussed sexual harassment and sexual violence during a time of Covid-19.
They talked about what supports are available during this time:
"The most important thing is to believe them and to say to them 'this is not your fault'."
As part of the campaign, Ciaran and Rory on The Hub talked to Anne Scully, from the Rape Crisis Centre in Waterford.
She spoke about the stigma that still surrounds sexual violence and the impact that this can have on survivors.
Anne also explained what you can do to support a friend who has been a victim of sexual violence:
