Two cousins, Karl & Conor McKeon are taking part in the 4x4x48 Challenge (4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours!) on the 5th of March for Croí. They are from Sligo but based in the UK and will be doing it from there.
Conor’s father, Joe passed away last year but while he had been treated in Galway University Hospital. In Conor’s own words:
“Croi has done so much for my family its indescribable - I don't know if you are aware but my sisters and I live abroad so when dad had trouble with his heart we couldn't be there at the drop of a hat but Croi was, you looked after my mother so well that we can’t thank you enough. It really put our minds at ease knowing she was staying with you.”
The guys set up a fundraising page and set a target of €1K but as of today, they have raised over €11,000 and it keeps going… They have rallied incredible support from across Ireland on social, particularly in GAA & sporting circles including: Seán McDermott & Cathal Cregg (Roscommon GAA); Ross Donovan & Denis Johnson (Sligo GAA); Raf Cretaro (Sligo Rovers); Andy Moran (Mayo GAA): Olympic Medallist Paddy Barnes.
