Scientists in the UK are beginning to develop a vaccine for the next pandemic – dubbing it ‘Disease X’.
They’re monitoring a series of threats – most notably bird flu – in an effort to be more prepared for the next health crisis.
There’s a 100-day target to have a jab ready for a future Covid-style outbreak.

Chair of the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, Professor Andrew Pollard stressed the importance of being prepared saying “the thing that made it possible with COVID to do it in 300 days was the 20-years of homework we done before the pandemic started we need at the very least to be doing that same amount to research and development”.
