Judge refuses Mary Kate Olsen's emergency divorce request

A New York judge has refused to grant Mary Kate Olsen an emergency divorce from husband Olivier Sarkozy.

He ruled it was not an "essential matter".

Mary Kate first filed for divorce in April, but court cases were postponed in New York due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She claimed she was being forced out of her home by the 50-year-old banker.

Lucian Chalfen, a New York Supreme Court spokesman told reporters;

"Currently, we are only accepting essential/emergency matters for filing. The matter was referred to the ex-parte judge, a New York State Supreme Court judge and he determined that it is not an essential matter."

Mary Kate and Olivier, the brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy started dating in 2012 and they married in 2015.
