Channel 4 axe The Circle after just 3 seasons

Irish influencer Paddy Smyth won the 2019 series.

Channel 4 have axed their reality show The Circle after just 3 seasons.

The show launched in 2018 and was inspired by the idea that people can pretend to be anyone on social media.

Contestants were all living in the same building but were never allowed to meet in person.

Instead, the communicated through a specially designed app, where they could be themselves or pretend to be a totally different person.

The aim of the game was to be crowned the most popular, without meeting any of the other contestants in real life.

Speaking to The Sun, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said:

The Circle has been a huge hit for young audiences and has grown successively over three seasons on Channel 4, consistently outperforming slot averages.”

“In much the same way as when we originally commissioned The Circle, Channel 4 has a responsibility to continually look at how we reinvent and create space for new ideas, and so we have decided not to commission the show for a fourth season”, they added.
