The government has announced the funding in order to help live events happen this year, even with reduced attendances.
The government has announced €25,000,000 in funding to help gigs and festivals happen this year.
Electric Picnic, Body and Soul, Sea Sessions and PáircLife by Indiependence are among the festivals to get funding.
It also includes money to hold events at the Olympia, the Gaiety and Bord Gáis Energy theatres in Dublin along with funding for a number of touring circuses.
Arts and Culture Minister Catherine Martin says the Live Performance Support Scheme aims to provide money for live events to take place even with reduced attendances.
"Through a range of genres, from comedy to trad, jazz, country, circus, folk, theatre, dance. From Whelan's in Dublin, to the Westenra in Monaghan, to Róisín Dubh in Galway, to Seán Óg's Live in Gweedore, to Coughlan's in Cork, to the Moat in Kildare, so to make sure right across the country we're hearing our musicians."
Deputy Editor of Hot Press Stuart Clarke has said he welcomes the announcement, even if it has taken some time:
"The response was really painfully slow. We've seen for decades how the industry here is not treated seriously by the government. This is a billion euro industry, any other billion euro industry would have a far bigger government presence and help and assistance.
"But it has come through, the minister does seem to have got her head around it and this is very welcome."
