The Rowing Women's Four team of Aifric Keogh, Eimear Lambe, Fiona Murtagh, Emily Hegarty came third in their final overnight, and will take home bronze.
The girls finishing strongly behind the Australian and Dutch and just ahead of the British boat.
President Michael D Higgins was among the first to congratulate the team.

Emily Hegarty hopes the achievement will inspire others to follow them.
‘It’s something for the future and hopefully it will be the first of many and will give the young girls coming up now real hope' she said.
‘It’s completely possible, if we can do it, anyone can.’
