What would you buy with €1,000?
Well, livestock wouldn't have been top of our list, but it was exactly what one Cavan boy wanted.
William Woods is 10 years old and recently won a decent sum of money from a local credit union draw. After winning €1,000 he put his thinking cap on and decided what he's spend his winnings on.
Xbox games? A new bike?
Nope.
He bought himself six young calves to rear.
And he couldn't be prouder and happier:
"I feel like I'm going to blow up. It's such a weird feeling because...they're mine!"
“I love cows, so I thought, why not buy some?”
This 10-year-old boy from Co Cavan bought six calves with his winnings from a local credit union draw. Now he’s loving every minute of rearing his own herd ???

The hard-working young lad's dream is to become a farmer, and we think he's well cut out for it!
Round of applause for his dedication to rearing the animals, as he admits himself it is a lot of work:
"I'm actually quite pleased now that I have to do work, because it's a new experience for me."
