Yep, this could be really awkward.
We all love getting notifications. In fact it's been proven that receiving that little bell on your phone releases dopamine into our brains.
But receiving a cheeky WhatsApp message could soon become a very awkward for anyone who partakes in sending or receiving explicit videos.
The messaging app is reportedly working on an update which could bring shame and humiliation to millions of unsuspecting sexters.
Currently, notifications contain a very small amount of information that’s not really enough to ruin your life.
Soon though, WhatsApp will show you a short preview of a video within a notification.
Which is grand if you're expecting a nice message from your folks or grandparents or something...but probably not so good if you’re expecting (or are surprised by) a graphic image of someone’s naughty bits.
Maybe just switch off your notifications just to be safe.
The new feature was uncovered by WABetaInfo, which said video previews will be available within ‘push notifications’.
This means short clips will be viewable from the lock screen of your phone, which may prove very embarrassing if your mum or boss sees a notification on your phone and fancies looking at the video it contains.
The functionality is available in version 2.18.102.5 of the Whatsapp beta software and will be rolled out to all App Store users soon, WABetaInfo said on Twitter.
It may be better to just switch your notifications off for WhatsApp...just to be safe.
