Clive Staunton has been described as a 'lovely fellow'.
Tributes have been paid to dad-of-one Clive Staunton, after he was shot dead in Kildare on Thursday night.
The 50-year-old was shot dead outside his home in the Glen Easton Way housing estate in Leixlip - it's believed the shooting is related to the Hutch-Kinahan feud.
A neighbour of Clive said he was a “lovely fellow and a great neighbour” whose wife had passed away last year.
He had been living in the estate for around five years.
Shane Cody told the Irish Times: "I was only speaking to him earlier in the day.
"He was always in great form.
"He always had a smile on his face.
“It’s a nice area.
"Stuff like this doesn’t happen here.''
“I would be very surprised if he (Clive Staunton) was involved in any of that (gangland stuff)
"It was only when you see the Garda cars coming that you realised what happened.
“You wouldn’t hear much from him.
"You would just see him bringing stuff in and out from the van."
A Garda spokesman said: “The scene is sealed off pending the arrival of Garda Crime Scene Examiners and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
“Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the Glen Easton Estate this evening between 8.30pm and 9.30pm to contact them at Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.”
