Tributes have been paid to a popular DCU student from Co. Louth, who tragically died after falling from an apartment balcony in Cyprus.

Conor Morgan from Dundalk in Co Louth was found dead at a hotel in Ayia Napa at around 4am on Sunday.

It's believed the 20-year-old had only touched down in the country hours earlier with a group of friends.

The exact circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown, but local news outlets say police believe he fell from a second floor balcony.

His death notice reads: "Conor Morgan, Sunday June 10, 2018. Suddenly, following a tragic accident in Cyprus. Conor (aged 20) much loved son of Paul and Blathnaid and dear brother of Sarah, adored grandson of Gerry and Anne Morgan and PJ and Eilish Whelan.

"Very deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents, sister, girlfriend Aímee, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, relatives, wonderful friends and neighbours. May His Soul Rest In Peace."

A talented gaelic footballer, Conor recently helped his club Dundalk Gaels to the Senior Championship final last year.

Following receiving the tragic news, the club made this announcement on its Facebook page yesterday morning:

"Dundalk Gaels regret to announce the death, while on holidays, of our club member, player and great friend Conor 'Morgie' Morgan.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family Paul, Blathnaid and Sarah at this incredibly difficult and devastating time.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
