Temperatures are set to drop as low as -2 degrees.
Met Éireann has warned of a very chilly week ahead, with heavy rainfall and freezing conditions set to hit the country over the coming days.
A status Yellow rainfall warning remains in place from Tuesday for Wexford, Cork and Waterford until noon on Wednesday.
According to forecasters, the rain later in the week is expected to be the heaviest in Leinster and Ulster.
Tonight, the rain will develop in the west and spread across Ireland.
The national forecaster says "stormy conditions" are in store for later in the week with hail and thunder also on the cards.
Temperatures are also due to drop as low as -2 degrees, so motorists are being urged to take care as frost and ice are expected to develop.
Towards the end of the week, Friday will see a risk of hail and thunder in parts.
Meanwhile, for those heading out on Saturday night, Met Éireann warns that a windy night is in store.
In short, winter is in full effect!
