Counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo have been warned to brace for 'torrential downpours and lightning,' as Met Eireann issues a Status Orange warning for the Northwest.
The warning was issued at 1pm today and is valid until 5pm.

Meanwhile a Status Yellow warning for rainfall remains in place for much of the rest of Ireland.
All of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford are affected by the warning.
