Something we'd all like to avoid when travelling...

Parts of North Africa and the Middle East are safer by some measures than Europe and the US.

An extremely detailed study has revealed the safest places in the world for travelers, and there's certainly some surprising results in there!

For example:

  • Jordan has a lower risk of crime than France, Italy, the US and Thailand.
  • Morocco has less crime and a lower risk of terrorism than most of Europe and the US.

According to the research, published by The World Risk Report, Iceland is the safest place to venture for tourists when it comes to the chances of a serious crime being committed against you.

The UAE (United Arab Emirates) comes in second place followed by Singapore and Spain.

And perhaps surprisingly Ireland came in ranked 21st in the world.

While conversely, Pakistan, El Salvador, Yemen and Colombia were the bottom four ranked countries.
