The search lasted 29-Hours
The search for a 30-Year old Limerick man who was reported missing after a late night swim off the coast of Long Island, New York, has been called off, the ABC reports.
The US Coast Guard had spent over 29-Hours vigorously searching for the missing Irishman, and covered 650 miles in the process.
"The water was very bad last night,'' said Paul Gillespie, Long Beach Patrol Chief.
No one should've gone in last night, especially with no lifeguards there. Again. Which, we have that problem, unfortunately."
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it “cannot comment on individual consular cases."
