After racking up an expensive bill at a fancy restaurant, six people skipped out on paying...so the owner took matters into his own hands.

CCTV footage of a group of Six who 'did a runner' from a upscale restaurant in Devon, England has gone viral after the owner posted it to social media.

The group had been dining at the Pier House Restaurant, where they generated a £225 (€248) bill, The Sun reported.

Rightfully outraged, owner Rob Braddick posted a CCTV video which shows the group of young adults making for the exit.

However, he didn't not anticipate the reaction the video would generate, with more than 4000 people sharing the clip in a bid to bring the 'dine and dashers' to justice.

“The post went absolutely nuts!”, he told the Sun.

According to Rob, the diners had given the name Steele and a “doubtful” phone number before making their bold getaway.

“They had all eaten and drank and obviously had a pretty good night,” said the owner.

“In the post I said they had clearly forgotten to pay their bill — and also left behind their after dinner mints.”

He added: “To be honest, it’s not about the money. It’s about the principle of the matter.

“As well as upsetting the staff there, people need to realise that they cannot get away with this sort of behaviour.”

Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.
