A long, cold night awaits!

Given a Status Red weather warning remains in place until 3pm tomorrow, the majority of the Country will be remaining indoors during that time.

However there is a few things you can do to ensure your long stay indoors is stress free for you and others:

Check on vulnerable neighbours -

The elderly are especially vulnerable during extreme weather. If you have elderly neighbours perhaps just check in to see if they're prepared enough to keep warm tonight.

Stay warm -

Bit of a brainer... We're expecting temperatures of -4C tonight and a high of -1C to 3C tomorrow.

Heating - blast it.

Blankets, duvets, scarves... anything warm, have it on standby.

Charge your mobiles and laptops -

Another no brainer.

If your power does go out, your phone can double as a light and a way for you to follow updates and call for help should you need it.

Have a plan if the electricity goes -

Candles, torches, blankets, gowns... Again, anything warm, have it on standby incase the electricity goes.

Which it already has in some areas: iRadio.ie/Poweroutages

If your water pipes may freezing or burst -

If that happens, which we hope it doesn't, there's some great information on how to deal with it here on Irish Water's website.

Follow updates -

It's always important to be up to date with information as it comes to hand.

Here's some handy websites to keep an eye on before you venture outdoors again:

Met Eireann

AA Roadwatch

ESB.ie

Hang in there! It'll all be over soon.
