Handbags, wallets and passports were among the debris discovered floating near the crash site.

A passenger jet with 189 people on board has crashed into the sea, just minutes after taking off from Indonesia's capital.

The pilot had asked to return to Jakarta shortly after take-off.

There are questions about the aircraft, which had previously been grounded for repairs.

The company admits the plane had a technical problem on a previous flight, but insists the issue had been resolved.

Rescue teams say they're not expecting to find any survivors following a plane crash in Indonesia.

Divers have been deployed to search for those on board.
