It looks like some people REALLY shouldn't be made to get up early

Researchers looking into human sleep patterns have found that forcing night people to become morning people appears to raise their chances of dying prematurely by 10 per cent.

That's according to a study co-authored by the University of Surrey. Which suggests businesses should start taking people's natural body rhythms into account when it comes to work starting times.

The study monitored 500,000 Britons over the course of six years, and found that people who stay up late have higher rates of diabetes and mental disorders.

University of Surrey's Malcolm von Schantz said: "This is a public health issue that can no longer be ignored. We should discuss allowing evening types to start and finish work later, where practical. And we need more research about how we can help evening types cope with the higher effort of keeping their body clock in synchrony with sun time.''

Does this mean the never ending plight of the constantly tired night owl be coming to an end?
