The cabinet has signed off on a range of measures to alleviate the problems caused by the flooding crisis.
€10 million is being provided to assist with the clean-up of flooding while funds will also go into a long-term weather prediction service.
Extra funds are being provided for the Red Cross scheme to compensate businesses, while farmers are to be compensated for the cost of fodder they might have lost.
Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney has said measures will also be examined to look at the prospect of helping people to leave homes that are regularly flooded.
