Rachel Collins' water supply was cut off unexpectedly last Wednesday
A 21-year-old Irish mother had to boil snow in order to make drinking water for her seven-month-old baby during Storm Emma last week.
Speaking to the Irish Independent Rachel Collins said up to eight feet of snow built up in her driveway Bohernabreena in County Dublin.
Meaning she was stuck in her home with her parents, two brothers, boyfriend and son in during the worst snowstorm Ireland has seen in 36-years.
"On Wednesday evening our water got cut off, we weren't notified but we had one pot filled just in case,'' she said.
"I've had to bring the snow in for water, thank God we still have electricity to boil it.
"We haven't heard why it was cut off but all of our neighbours are in the same boat, their water is gone too."
Members from the local county council came to the assistance of Rachel and her baby on Sunday, delivering baby food and nappies.
"Once he is looked after I am happy.''
"My son is only seven months old and we need water because he's still very reliant on bottles every four hours.''
Irish Water have warned that water restrictions may be imposed on the Dublin region for a ''number of weeks.''
