A man has been charged following the stabbing of a woman at a house in Athy, Co. Kildare.
The man, 36, was arrested following an investigation and is being held at Kildare Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The alleged assault took place at a house on Rathstewart Crescent in Athy on Sunday at around 8.30pm.
The 41-year-old woman was stabbed in the lower back and brought by ambulance to Naas Hospital for treatment.
Her injuries were described as a serious but not life threatening.
He appeared before Athy District Court on Tuesday January 8 charged in connection with the assault.
The garda investigation is ongoing.
