Sean Cox is in a critical condition
Irish man Sean Cox remains in a critical condition after a brutal attack from Roma supporters, before the Champions League Semi-Final in Liverpool.
The assault - believed to be unprovoked - happened outside Anfield Stadium on Tuesday night.
Cox, a popular GAA man from Co. Meath was placed in an induced coma after a lengthy operation to drain blood from the brain.
Sean’s shocked wife Martina has travelled to Liverpool to be by his side.
Outspoken RTE commentator Eamon Dunphy believes the unprovoked attack was in retaliation to the attack on the Manchester City Team bus by Liverpool fans before the Quarter Final Leg.
However, the actual motives for the attack remain unclear.
Two fans from Rome were arrested inside the ground on suspicion of attempted murder in the run-up to kick-off on Tuesday night.
