The best whiskey in the world comes from Co Cork.

An Irish whiskey has taken home the World Whisky Trophy.

Redbreast 12 Year Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey won the award at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition, which is now in it's 50th year.

With an impressive score of 98 out of 100, the Redbreast whiskey beat off competition from around the world.

It's crafted in the Midleton Distillery in Co Cork, which is also home to Jameson, Powers and Paddy whiskeys.

Commenting on the win, Billy Leighton, Redbreast Master Blender at Midleton Distillery said: "We are thrilled to see more fantastic results at such prestigious global spirits tasting competitions. It is great to see the Redbreast range flourish as it continues to excite consumers with its exemplary single pot still Irish whiskey style."

"These awards are truly a testament to the craftsmen at Midleton Distillery who assist me in blending the finest Irish whiskeys in the world, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds!"
