Heavy rain and severe gusts will arrive with Storm Diana later this week.
Ireland is being warned to brace for a week of 'unsettled' weather, as Storm Diana approaches the country.
Met Eireann has already issued a status yellow weather warning for 13 counties, however further warnings could be on the way.
The UK Met office has said winds of up to 96kmh are set to hit on Wednesday in coastal areas by the Irish Sea when the storm makes landfall.
Meteorologist Craig Snell told the Irish Mirror: “It has been named Diana by the Portugese as it hits the Azores.
“We already have a separate front of wet and windy weather which is unrelated to that forecast for the UK on Tuesday.
“That is from another system. The strongest winds are likely to come in on Wednesday.
“The gales will be severe and will reach up to 96kmh on coastal parts. We are looking at the areas around the Irish Sea coast being worst hit.”
A Met Eireann spokesman added: “There is going to be very unsettled weather from Tuesday and Wednesday onwards.
“There could be a weather warning for Wednesday, possibly also later. There will be some wet and windy weather, but how wet and windy we can’t say yet.”
