Temperatures will drop by as much as 17-degrees between Thursday and Sunday night.

Met Éireann's forecast for the long weekend isn't exactly filled with promise...

After a top of 12-degrees sometime today, the Celsius will plummet to baltic highs of just 2 to 4 degrees on Sunday.

While St.Patricks Day itself will be “cold and breezy” with “significant wind chill,” with Snow showers predicted for the east and southeast on Saturday and Sunday.

However, Met Éireann say that “amounts are looking small” and that “a few flurries are possible elsewhere.”

Here's the forecast for the long weekend as it stands:

Friday - Showery outbreaks of rain, with a few bright or sunny spells and highs of 9 to 11 degrees (not so bad actually).

Saturday - Things will start to take a turn for the worst on Paddy's Day though... It will be Cold and breezy, with high's of 1 to 3 degrees in eastern half of the country and between 4 to 6 degrees further west. While we're in for a freezing evening of -1 to -4 degrees.

Sunday - Highs of just 2 to 4 degrees. And lows of 0 to -5 degrees with a widespread severe frost. Goodness.

Monday - We're talking  5 to 7 degrees. But then well below freezing conditions over night, as low as -5 in some areas.

Fairly grim! But a little chill wont stop the parade!
