''The owners should procure it's immediate removal''

The National Parks and Wildlife Service is asking that the controversial 'NO' sign be removed from the side of Ben Bulben.

The giant sign was erected in the early hours of this morning.

It has since drawn a predominantly negative reaction on social media. And has even been labelled an act of vandalism.

The statement from the NPWS reads: ''The insinuation of alien materials such as this onto a special area of conservation is insensitive to its conservation status and incompatible with the habitat.''

The owners should procure it's immediate removal so that Ben Bulben is returned undamaged to it's natural and beloved state.''

The sign was put in place by the 'Sligo for Life' group, who are campaigning for a 'no' vote in the upcoming referendum on the Eight Amendment, taking place on May 25th.
