Will it be as bad as forecast?
Today will be the day we feel the first impact from what's been dubbed the 'Beast from the East,' with frost and snow forecast for the east of the country.
As a result, a Status Orange Snow-ice warning for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath. So how long will this bad weather last? And will it be as bad as many are forecasting?
Here is the latest from Met Eireann on what we can expect over the coming days:
Today (Tuesday):
Met Eireann says top temperatures will range from 3 to 6c in the afternoon, however wind chill will make that feel substantially colder.
However, things will begin to turn when this evening hits.
Snow showers will become frequent across Eastern Ireland tonight, which temperatures plummet to between -2C and -6C, with severe frost, icy patches and snow accumulations across all parts but especially on the eastern Coast.
Wednesday:
After a brutally cold start, we can expect temperatures of only just above zero during the day, ranging between -1C and 2C making it the coldest day this winter.
Wednesday night will be extremely cold, with heavy snowfalls and high winds leading to blizzard-like conditions, while we can expect temperatures between -5 and -7C.
With temps of -5°C forecast tonight and -7°C forecast for Tuesday night here's a look back at our minimum temperatures (°C) from recent years.

Thursday:
This will be the worst day, according to Met Eireann. The eastern part of the country could see up to 50cm of snow on Thursday and Friday.
While it will also be 'bitterly cold', with snow showers and freezing winds from the east.
Temperatures are expected to get no higher than -1C and snow showers will get worse and more frequent as the day progresses.

Friday:
Friday should be the turning point.
While the Met is still forecasting more snow, temperatures should hit 4C, which will hopefully lead to warmer weather over the weekend.
Conditions:
Motorists have been urged to use extreme caution on the roads, as icy driving conditions will come into effect.
