Can't say we're surprised...
So one of the best known magazines in the world, National Geographic, just ranked Galway among the 28-best-trips to make next year.
It’s just another day for the county in the west...
Already gearing up for it's reign as the European Capital of Culture in 2020, 2019 is going to yet another action packed year for the county in the west.
And clearly, the intelligent judges at National Geographic recognised that.
"Galway may sit at the far western edge of Europe, but lately the “City of Tribes” has been the centre of attention. Named a 2018 European Region of Gastronomy, Ireland’s fourth largest city (population 80,000) is gearing up for the next big thing: Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture," the magazine wrote.
"Throughout 2019, new community heritage and arts projects, such as pop-up culture cafés and funambulism (tightrope walking) workshops, will be rolling out in conventional and unexpected venues (beaches, fields, remote villages, and rivers) across Galway city and county."
Mexico City ranked first in the list, which also includes cities such as the Peruvian Amazon, Fanjingshan in China, Dakar in Senegal and Oakland, California.
