The dog snuck upstairs and attacked her.
A post mortem is due to be carried out later on the body of a three month old baby girl who died after a dog attack in Co. Waterford.
It happened in the village of Clashmore at around 2AM yesterday morning.
Baby Mia O'Connell was in a bed in the terraced house when the dog went upstairs and attacked her.
Emergency services treated Mia's injuries at the scene before she was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where she was pronounced dead.
Mayor of Waterford City and County Councillor Damien Geoghegan said it was very sad news to hear "that a three-month-old child had lost her life in such horrible circumstances".
