4,260 new cases of chlamydia in the first thirty weeks of 2018.

An increased use of dating apps is contributing to a rise in sexually transmitted infections.

Speaking in today's Mail on Sunday, sexual health expert, Dr.Derek Freedman, says that the use of apps such as Grindr and Tinder means causal sex is now 'as easy as booking a taxi'.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre says there were 4 thousand two hundred and sixty new cases of chlamydia in the first thirty weeks of 2018.

There are also concerns about the spread of a new STI called mycoplasma genitalium which has very few symptoms and is often antibiotic resistant.
