The National Women's Council of Ireland says it believes there will be protests against a planned seminar by a controversial US company in Ireland.
The Times UK reports that Real Social Dynamics, which teaches men "aggressive pick-up techniques", will hold an event next month.
It will apparently be part of a world tour and will show footage of the company's members "making unsolicited advances towards women".
The NWCI says the training is "predatory and abusive" and borders on coercive control, which is now an offence under domestic violence law.
Its director Orla O'Connor is not happy about the planned seminar:
"No means no and training men in terms of how to persist after women, to also use manipulative tactics, that really is bordering on coercive control. This is very important in Ireland now, we have new legislation making coercive control illegal, so I think it's really important that we call this behaviour out."
“We all need to be clear that when a woman says no to a man, she means no. It is not a signal to start a negotiation to try to wear her down or manipulate her. That behaviour is predatory and abusive.” @OrlaNWCI on so-called ‘pick up artists’ https://t.co/PekEQxxyCD
