Students in Leinster and Munster will receive snow days on Thursday and Friday
The Department of Education has confirmed all schools and colleges in Leinster and Munster will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.
This is in wake of both Provinces being issued with a Status Red weather warning for snow and ice - issued by Met Eireann.
The decision was announced after a meeting of the National Emergency Co-ordinating Group earlier today. Political opponents to Education Minister Richard Bruton minister have criticized the decision not to close the schools earlier.
At this stage all schools in Connaght and Ulster will be able to decided individually whether or not to open in the coming days.
